Wayfinder Waikiki

"I stayed for four nights in a Premium View King room during my third trip to Hawaii. The hotel assigned me a room on the 12th floor, and the dual balconies were undoubtedly one of the highlights of my stay. While the view was partially obstructed, it still offered a beautiful outlook toward Diamond Head. I was also pleasantly surprised by the lack of insects around the balcony area. Watching the sunrise and moonrise from the balcony was truly memorable and made the room feel special. The lobby is thoughtfully designed, with plenty of open space and natural airflow that creates a refreshing sense of connection to the outdoors. I also enjoyed spending time at Lost + Found by the pool. The cocktail menu is creative, and both welcome drinks I tried were excellent. My experience with Redfish was more mixed. Interestingly, the poke bowl was significantly better when ordered as takeout than when dining in. Unfortunately, the dine-in service was inconsistent, requiring multiple follow-ups, and the food itself was underwhelming. The Redfish Mimosa was particularly disappointing. The biggest issue during my stay was the room lighting. After sunset, the room became remarkably dark, with only two table lamps available. Even at full brightness, the lighting was insufficient for basic tasks such as unpacking luggage, reading, or organizing belongings. This may not bother every guest, but it noticeably affected my comfort during a four-night stay. Service throughout the property was adequate rather than memorable. Interactions at the front desk felt somewhat indifferent, and the Americano from the café was among the weaker coffees I had during my time in Waikiki. Overall, I believe the hotel offers fair value for its price point, especially considering the room views, open-air design, and pleasant poolside atmosphere. However, while I enjoyed several aspects of the stay, the shortcomings in dining, lighting, and service mean I would likely choose a different hotel on my next visit to Hawaii."

"Everything was great. Spacious rooms which they clean everyday. Great pool area with free towels, suncream and tea. The poolside bar had good drinks and nice food. We also enjoyed the cafe - reasonably priced for Waikiki. Great location in Waikiki, easy to walk to everything. We weren’t charged any additional resort fees other than what we paid on booking.com. They had valet parking which $50 a day but we didn’t use that."

"I had a disappointing checkout experience. At check-in, I confirmed I would be using late checkout through my card benefit, including the 4:00 PM checkout time, and we planned accordingly. However, on the day of departure I went to front desk around 11:00 AM to reconfirm and was unexpectedly told I needed to leave by 12:00 PM because late checkout was “upon availability.” If late checkout was not guaranteed, this should have been clearly communicated earlier. Instead, I was later told I had to leave by 12:30 PM at the latest, despite not having packed. My room key also stopped working, requiring two trips downstairs during an already stressful situation. Overall, the communication and service were disappointing, especially since the benefit had been confirmed at check-in."
