The Place

"My buddy Gene has been talking about The Place in Corona del Mar for months, always saying I needed to go grab a beer and a burger there. So yesterday, I finally checked it out for the first time, and honestly… it totally lived up to the hype. First off, I loved getting to experience another little pocket of the Corona del Mar village that I hadn’t been to before. Gene parked the golf cart in the alley, we walked in through the back, and immediately I felt the vibe. There’s a billiards table back there that instantly took me back to the dive bars and pool halls I used to hang out in during the 90s. We grabbed seats at the bar, and before long the place was packed. The crazy part? There were only two people working, Nick behind the bar and the cook. And somehow they absolutely held it down. Sure, maybe the food took an extra few minutes, but that didn’t matter because Nick stayed connected the whole time. He checked in on us, kept the beers topped off, and made everyone feel taken care of. That kind of service goes a long way. The burger and fries were exactly what I wanted, simple, hot, fresh, and honestly delicious. Nothing overcomplicated, just really good comfort food done right. And honestly, the tight hallways, tiny bathroom, old school atmosphere… all of it added to the nostalgia for me. It reminded me of the kinds of local spots that are getting harder and harder to find these days. First experience was a 10/10 for exactly what it is. I’ll definitely be back."
