"This place never disappoints. Whether you’re ordering mariscos or classic Mexican dishes, the food is consistently on point. Every visit has been a great experience, with each dish coming out flavorful and absolutely delicious. "The Kroft is almost awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if it was awesome even within the last few years. But our visit felt a little lackluster. I wanna get one thing straight off the bat: they make a proper smash burger. Good beef, lacy edges, crispy. Not like so many spots that call a regular burger a smash burger just because it's trendy. If that's what you're after, the Kroft has you covered. Beyond that though, the cracks in the facade show. The menu is large, but with a lot of overlap. Think Taco Bell workflow. The poutines had a couple off flavors, like something heavily acidic that threw off the balance of the otherwise delicious patties. The actual nook to eat in is tiny and bare. Of course, you have the whole packing district to explore, so it's not a huge issue. And when you order, they ask for a phone number. When I was like "oh, no, I'll be right here" they seemed confused. Like, the place is 10 feet long, you don't need to text me; I'll hear you I promise. Nothing was outright bad, to be sure: but it was definitely not charming either. Which is what frustrates me the most: it's so close to being excellent, but silly experience considerations are holding it back."
