The Hoxton, Downtown LA

"We ate at the restaurant in this hotel called Moonlarks. GREAT FOOD!"

"Dishonest Practices and Hidden Fees! We booked a 4-night stay through Booking.com with taxes and fees included. Upon arrival, the staff tried to extort a "destination fee" that wasn't listed on our contract. Unable to justify it (the receptionist even scanned my booking confirmation email on ChatGPT to look for proof, to no avail), the staff started making up prices based on what they thought they could get away with. The fee jumped from $100 to $108, then $222, before dropping back down to $186, each time claiming it was their mistake. Faced with their blackmail ("pay or no room"), Booking.com acknowledged the hotel's error, and we canceled our stay. In addition to these outrageous practices and incompetent staff, the neighborhood is unsafe (homeless people and drug addicts hang out near the hotel).
