The Hopper Pub and Pizzeria

"Let me start by saying that my husband and I loved The Hopper for years. We spent a lot of money here because we visited almost every week. We loved the atmosphere, the live music, and, of course, the pizza. Over the last year, however, we've noticed that the service has become very hit-or-miss. Three weeks ago, we decided to give it another try. It was great to see Justin still there, and he took excellent care of us as always. We happened to visit on a night with live music, which was a bonus, and we found seats at the bar right in front of the pizza station. The pizza was outstanding because Skip was working that night, and in my opinion, he's the best. And my favorite server Jay Jay was even there eating so we were able to say hi. The following Wednesday, I went back with my sister for a girls' night, and unfortunately, the experience was completely different. We waited an hour for a Caesar salad, even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We arrived after the music had ended, and there were very few customers. Meanwhile, the owner with the man bun stood around on his phone the entire time and didn't appear to help the staff at all. I kept watching, wondering why he couldn't step in and help when customers were waiting so long. We were seated near the pizza station again and were shocked to see how long it took to get something as simple as a Caesar salad especially when they just threw some lettuce in a bowl and legit squirted Great Value caesar dressing on it. When our pizza finally arrived, the crust was badly burned and so hard that it was difficult to bite into. It was obvious that Skip wasn't making the pizzas that night. To make matters worse, we then waited an unreasonable amount of time for our check. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet our waitress decided to take shots with a group on the patio instead of checking on her tables. By that point, we were frustrated and ready to leave. Jon, you need to step it up. I run a business myself, and I know that great customer service starts with leadership. As an owner, you should be setting the example and helping your staff when needed, not standing around as if it's not your responsibility. Sadly, after this experience, we won't be spending another penny here."

"Service is always poor. They probably need to hire more staff or train them to actually service customers rather than stand in the corner and talk or look at their cell phones. Band their cell phones when they're supposed to be working they can use them on their breaks."
