"The food at Beachcomber Cafe was very good, and we enjoyed our meal. Unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired and put a damper on what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. When we arrived, the table we had hoped for with a better beach view was occupied, but it looked like the guests were about to leave. Before we ordered any food or drinks, my husband politely asked the hostess if we could move to that table once it became available. We were told no and were informed that we would have to put our names back on the waiting list. We then asked our server if she could check with the manager, since we had not yet ordered anything and moving us would have been very simple. The manager also refused and insisted that we remain at our assigned table. What made this especially disappointing was the complete lack of flexibility and willingness to accommodate a reasonable request. We weren't asking to move after our meal had started or expecting anyone to rearrange tables. The table had become available, we hadn't ordered yet, and it was my birthday. A small gesture of customer service could have made the experience memorable for the right reasons. The food was good, but the lack of accommodation and customer care was very unpleasant and left us disappointed."
