Root of Happiness Kava Bar | Rancho Cordova

"I went here the other day with some friends, and before we went inside we were just hanging out in the parking lot. A security guard walked up to us asking for our IDs to prove we were 18+, even though we were pretty far from the entrance. We are all well over 18 and asked why we needed to show ID just for standing in the lot, and he immediately became hostile. He told us the kava bar “bought out the entire parking lot” and that no one under 18 was allowed anywhere on the property, which didn’t make sense considering there are other businesses there like a barbershop. He said we were being argumentative, even though we were just genuinely asking questions, and banned all of us from ever coming back. As we left, he followed behind us, making comments and calling us “dumb little kids.” His energy was extremely aggressive, and at one point it genuinely felt like he wanted to start a fight with one of my friends. It came off like a major power trip. I’ve always enjoyed the people and environment of the kava bar, so it’s disappointing to have had such a weird experience. I’d definitely recommend hiring a different security guard."
