25 Degrees Huntington Beach

"Sat at the bar, kind of behind the corner post a little... We didn't get served drinks for quite some time but we were in good company.. another couple that was already there chatted us up. Finally got our drinks and waited for a table to open up. Wink, wink went the server and we sat down with menus that we took from the bar. Two other servers passed us up, the busser asked if we wanted some waters, another table of five set down next to us about 10 minutes in and we just became invisible. We were not under any time constraints so we just kind of smiled and looked at each other and continue our conversation but nobody came to the table... We are both personal chefs and had never been to this place, wanted to check it out. The place was pretty full but not packed and everyone seemed happy. So we just continue to sit and wait and talk. After a couple of tables opened up in the restaurant and the folks that sat next to us were done with their meals, we got to server to kind of turn their head to the side and say would you like to eat? So, we ordered the fig bacon burger and the French onion soup smashburger. Had a side of truffle fries and onion rings in a basket. Both burgers were satisfying enough but missing an element of zip, zing, spice, grill marks.. something missing. The best thing about both burgers were the little added element of fig jam and the caramelized onions in my soup. We'd probably go again and try something more but this experience just left us staying MEH. We continue to our evening and had a nice walk around main Street with all the people over this memorial weekend... Stopped into a bar with some live music and had another beer.. so the evening wasn't all MEH. Sorry 25°, we'll have to try you again on a better evening."

"My wife and I were recently in Huntington Beach, where we met and went to high school together, celebrating Mother's Day. She did the research for dinner, which landed us at a side bar and restaurant off the main drag on 6th street near the pier. The immediate vibe was a cozy Victorian-style bar, sprinkled with taxidermy, and we weren't sure if it was just a bar with typical bar food appetizers. We decided to take a risk and were seated immediately by a friendly host. Shortly afterward, we were met by another friendly and funny food server, Tyler, who also clicked with our brand of humor like we had known each other for years. We started with drinks, and I swear I had the BEST Red Snapper (Bloody Mary) ever, made by Matthew. My wife was introduced to a free sparkling rosé wine for Mother's Day, and another new beverage, Happy Dad. (She is now a fan) My wife ordered a Caesar salad with blackened chicken, and I had a protein bowl with tuna and rice. You have to understand we are foodies, and NEVER expected such delicious food, but it was! What's more, Tyler shared that she is a fellow alumna from the same high school my wife and I attended! Anyway, thanks to Tyler, Matthew, the Chefs, and the rest of the staff, we had a great time! Thank you, 25 Degrees, and may the force be with you!"
